Welcome back everyone to In Black and Write! It’s officially mid-semester, meaning I am less than two months ways from graduation! Among the courses that I’ve had to take this semester—my last semester as an undergrad at Howard University— Visual Journalism has been one of the most enriching ones. This course has helped me to expand my digital portfolio and ultimately learn different storytelling skills.
Just to name a few projects that I’ve completed so far this semester, I’ve learned how to tell stories through the platform Animoto, as well as, use images to create a photojournalism story. Coming into this class as a senior at Howard University, I’ve learned how to implement visual elements into my stories but never actually put these skills into practice. Visual Journalism has given me ample opportunities, to relearn and hone these digital skills, and effectively create stories using them.
